- Confirmed complaint, with engine running checked charging voltage and found voltage is only at 11.9v. Checked connections at alternator and battery and found no obvious faults. Performed voltage drop test from alternator to battery and found voltage drop is within spec. Checked voltage with engine running at alternator and found voltage is still only 11.9v. This indicates the alternator has an internal fault causing concern.
- Disconnected battery cables and removed serpentine belt. Removed coolant over flow tank and removed both electrical connections at the alternator. Removed retaining bolts and studs and removed the alternator. Installed new and assembled in reverse order. Started engine and confirmed alternator is charging at 14.2v.
