Services Performed
- Confirmed complaint, checked oil level and found level is proper and oil is clean. Removed intake ducting, high pressure fuel pump, ignition coils and intake plenum. Removed right side valve cover and inspected over right bank timing and found. -Right side timing chain tensioner is weak. (Valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, front cover gaskets, water pump gaskets, timing cover/front crank seal and coolant).
- Removed intake ducting, engine cover and charge air cooler pipes. Drained cooling system and removed all hoses and electrical connectors from intake plenum. Removed plenum retaining bolts and removed intake. Removed fuel lines to high pressure pump, removed pump retaining bolts and removed high pressure fuel pump. Removed ignition coils and all harness hold downs along with pcv hoses from both valve covers. Removed all valve cover retaining bolts and removed both valve covers. Set engine to TDC on cylinder one and installed cam retaining fixtures. Removed all cooling hoses from thermostat housing and coolant cross over. Removed serpentine belt and cut the stretch belt for the ac compressor. Removed thermostat housing along with the water pump. Removed all alternator retaining bolts and set alternator aside, removed all front cover retaining bolts and removed front cover. Removed both timing chain tensioners, removed all timing chain guides and chains. Removed all four VVT actuators (phasers) from the camshafts. Installed new phasers along with new bolts and torqued. Re installed timing chains ensuring timing marks line up on both chains. Re installed guides and new tensioners and torqued all hardware. Cleaned all sealing surfaces and assembled all previously removed parts in reverse order and installed new gaskets/RTV where applicable. Filled cooling system, started engine and bled cooling system. Test drove vehicle and confirmed proper operation of the engine, let vehicle sit over night and confirmed concern is no longer present.
