FRONT END ALIGNMENT DONE -THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING HAS A LITTLE PLAY
mounted and balanced 4 tires
changed 8.7 quarts oil and filter
Cut open oil filter and did not find excessive metal debris. Test drove and confirmed complaint of a rattle at first and then the concern would not come back. Could not duplicate concern in the shop. Based on the sound the concern is timing chain related.

Removed both front wheels and both outer tie rod ends. Removed skid plates from bottom of car, and removed steering shaft from rack and pinion. Supported rear of cradle with jack and removed rear bolts. Lowered rear of cradle and removed rack and pinion retaining bolts. Removed rack from vehicle and installed new, transferred all necessary parts to new rack and assembled all previously removed parts in reverse order.
Hooked up heads compensated and took measurements and found only front toe is out of spec. Set steering wheel straight and adjusted front toe to within spec. Reset steering angle sensor and test drove to confirm proper operation.

Put transmission into neutral and removed drive shaft. Indexed pinion nut and removed. Using puller removed Yolk and removed pinion seal. Cleaned sealing surface and installed new rear pinion seal. Assembled in reverse order, confirmed fluid level is proper and confirmed no leaks are present.
