Services Performed
  • Test drove and confirmed complaint. Hooked up scan tool and checked for codes and found. -P0299- Turbocharger low boost condition. Visually inspected over intake system and found no faults. Hooked up smoke machine and smoked intake. Found quick connect fitting for vacuum line to the brake booster is leaking. Removed line, cleaned and inspected, reconnected and smoked intake again. Found leak is no longer present. Cleared codes and test drove again and found engine still lacks power and code comes back. Lifted vehicle on hoist and removed skid plate and heat shield from turbo. Visually inspected over turbo and found no fluid leaks or obvious air leaks. Inspected waste gate actuator and arm, found waste gate arm linkage has ovaled out the wastegate arm now allowing it to close all the way. This allows air to bypass the turbo thus not creating boost.
  • Lifted vehicle on hoist, removed skid plate and drained engine coolant. Removed oil drain and oil feed lines from the turbo. Removed catalytic converter from the vehicle and removed both cac tubes. Removed all vacuum lines and both coolant lines from the turbo. Removed retaining bolts from the head and removed the turbo. Cleaned all sealing surfaces and installed new turbo with new gasket. Assembled in reverse order, filled with coolant and bled system. Checked for leaks and found none are present, test drove and confirmed no codes come back and that the turbo is making the proper amount of boost.
